The optical design of Canon's new ultra wide-angle lens contributes to both a focal range equivalent to 16-35 mm in the 35 mm format as well as a compact, lightweight design.
Moreover, a combination of advanced optical technologies, including Super UD (ultra-low dispersion) and aspherical lenses, work to effectively correct a variety of aberrations for outstanding image quality throughout the zoom range. The unit also realizes a minimum focusing distance of just 0.24 m throughout the entire zoom range.
