The new Leica SL2-S: Leica presents its most versatile camera for photography and videography to date.
Leica introduces a perfect solution for anyone seeking outstanding imaging performance – not only in their photographs, but also in their video productions. With its new, 24-megapixel BSICMOS sensor and two separate recording modes for photos and videos, the new Leica SL2-S offers the best of both media in one all-metal, state-of-the-art body built for long-term durability.
The Leica SL2-S expands the multi-faceted SL-System with a versatile full-frame camera that serves as an alternative to the Leica SL2. The SL2-S is the perfect choice for customers who favour fast operation over the exceptionally high resolution of the Leica SL2. With its especially high operating speed (which enables continuous shooting rates of up to 25 frames per second at full resolution), and its pro-level video capabilities (facilitating 10-bit 4K video recordings with no video length limits), the SL2-S sets new benchmarks within the SL-System.
The sensor is complemented by a refined Maestro III image processor, which avails high-speed performance throughout the camera system, enabling full-res DNG continuous shooting up to 25 fps with an electronic shutter or 9 fps with a mechanical shutter. 4K video recording is supported up to 60p and high-speed Full HD recording is possible at up to 180 fps. The sensor's design also incorporates a Leica Object Detection AF system, which uses 225 selectable AF areas for fast and accurate performance. Also complementing photo and video applications, a 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization system minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.
Beyond updated imaging, the SL2-S also features durable, weather-sealed body design that includes a 5.76m-dot EyeRes OLED EVF and a large 3.2" 2.1m-dot touchscreen LCD. A top status LCD is also featured for quick recognition of shooting settings and dual UHS-II-compatible SD memory card slots offer file-saving flexibility. Additionally, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work in conjunction with the Leica FOTOs app for wireless file transferring and remote camera control.
